Perimeter Aviation Sharpens Its Competitive Edge with Maxamation’s Aviator RM System
Maxamation today announced the successful rollout of its Aviator revenue management (RM) system at Perimeter Aviation and its Bearskin Airlines brand, one of Canada’s largest regional airlines. Following on-site training in Thunder Bay, Ontario, Aviator has been successfully embedded into the airline’s day-to-day revenue operations.
The group’s story is quintessentially northern. Perimeter was founded in Winnipeg in 1960 as Canada’s first private Instrument Flight Rating school and grew explosively in 1976, expanding from 25 employees to 100 virtually overnight. Bearskin Airlines was founded in 1963 and named after Bearskin Lake First Nation. It began with float- and ski-equipped bush planes serving remote reserves in northern Ontario, and marked 60 years of service in 2023. The two icons merged in 2018, with Bearskin now an integrated division of Perimeter.
Today the group connects remote northern communities across Manitoba and Ontario with a fleet of 38 aircraft, a certified Approved Maintenance Organization, Aeromed air ambulance services, custom charter flights, and cargo shipping to 28 destinations. Its Dash-8 fleet alone has flown more than 180,000 flights since 2006, a testament to the scale and reliability behind its operations. As it has grown, so too has its focus on efficiency and revenue growth, the driver behind its search for an RM partner.
Perimeter selected Maxamation and Aviator for the breadth of the system’s functionality, its ease of use, and the strength of Maxamation’s training and support services. A key part of the rollout was thorough on-site training covering both system functionality and RM fundamentals. When the region’s unique fare offerings proved challenging for conventional RM approaches, Maxamation and the airline worked together to develop customer-centric adjustments — a genuine win-win. Aviator also delivered the automated, competitive responses the airline sought to compete in a dynamic marketplace. The rollout also reflects a broader shift in the industry: sophisticated revenue management, long the preserve of major carriers, is increasingly within reach of the specialized regional operators that keep remote communities connected — and can now be tailored to the community-first fare structures those markets depend on.
“Working alongside the Perimeter team on-site was a real highlight,” said Paul Harvalias, CEO of Maxamation Vancouver, who led the training. “Their deep knowledge of northern aviation, combined with Aviator’s flexibility, allowed us to tailor the system to their market and set them up for lasting success.”
“Aviator has given our team the tools and confidence to manage revenue more strategically. The platform has enabled us to effectively manage two distinct regions, each with its own market dynamics, while maintaining a consistent approach to revenue management, ” said Leeann Organ, Vice President of Network & Revenue Management, Perimeter Aviation. “Maxamation’s hands-on support made the transition seamless, and the benefits have been clear across our first months of operation.”
